IMEE Made/ Scanning

Services

Scanning and reverse engineering, done to a standard you can actually manufacture from.

3D Scanning

Professional-grade blue laser 3D scanning, accurate to within hundredths of a millimeter for tight-tolerance components. For larger parts and full assemblies, I switch to a faster infrared capture mode built into the same system, so you're not paying for more precision (or more time) than the job actually needs. Good for capturing complex freeform geometry (trim panels, brackets, ducting, body panels) without a CMM or a full teardown. On-site scanning within 30 miles of Los Angeles; drop-off or shipped-in parts welcome from anywhere.

Reverse Engineering to CAD

Raw scan meshes aren't usable for manufacturing on their own. I rebuild the geometry into clean parametric or surfaced CAD, correcting scan noise and adding features a scanner can't capture: hole callouts, thread specs, wall thickness, datum references.

Fabrication-Ready Deliverables

Files checked and formatted for how you're actually going to make the part (3D printing, CNC machining, sheet metal, or casting), not just handed over as a raw STL.

Digital Archive / Documentation Scans

Scanning for documentation or archival purposes: capturing a part's exact geometry before it's modified, damaged further, or lost to time.

Common use cases

  • Discontinued car parts (trim, brackets, housings, interior pieces)
  • One-off or custom fabrication reference geometry
  • Restoration projects where the original part is damaged or missing
  • Motorsport and prototype parts needing quick iteration

Deliverable formats

  • STL
  • STEP
  • IGES
  • [Native CAD format you use, e.g. SolidWorks, Fusion 360]

Pricing

3D scanning
$300 / hr, 30 min minimum
3D design / reverse engineering
$100 / hr
Design consultation call
$75 / 30 min

Final project cost is scoped and agreed on during your design consultation call, before any contract is signed.

Turnaround

About 1 week from scan to delivered files for most single-part projects.

How a project runs

Every project follows the same process, start to finish, so you always know what's next.

01

Intake form

Submit the quote form with a description of the part and any supporting photos or documentation.

02

Design consultation

Scheduled within 24–48 hours of your submission: a paid call to go over the part in detail.

03

Scope, schedule & cost finalized

Coming out of the consultation, you get a concrete scope, timeline, and price, no surprises.

04

Contract signed

We put the agreed scope in writing before any work starts.

05

Work begins

Scanning, reverse engineering, and CAD reconstruction, start to finish.

06

Deliverable consultation call

A walkthrough of the finished files before final handoff, where questions, revisions, and sign-off happen.

07

Approval & final invoice

Once you approve the deliverables, I send the final invoice.

08

Asset submittal & close-out

All files and assets are delivered, and the project is closed out.
